So, dessicated media giant Imus gets a two-week vacation for calling a group of young women, the oldest of whom is around 22, whores. Don't give me any nonsense about "ho" being an accepted African-American colloquialism - it's a colloquial term for "whore," OK? Can I call your sister a ho? Your wife? Your daughter? No? How about I just call you bitch and we all have a good laugh over it? No? Why not, punk?
Somewhere in heaven, Jimmy the Greek is wishing he had been a political pundit rather than a sports reporter.
It's amzing that over the years sports journalism has shown less tolerance for nonsense like this than the political punditry. Jimmy the Greek's remarks were in poor taste, but he didn't call anyone a whore. And let's not forget that the only job Rush Limbaugh ever lost for his racist blatherings, despite his long and impressive track record of such behavior, was from a sports reporting gig.
It's not surprising that the straightest shooter on primetime cable these days is Keith Olbermann - a former sports reporter.
