Back in the blogosphere after taking a few days off to be a productive member of society and at least put up the appearance of being an involved, competent parent for the benefit of the neighbors and extended family. Thank God that's over with and I can start in with the bitchy little blog posts again.
When I left for the holiday weekend, things were a bit funereal in the not-quite-as-batshitosphere over the Democrats caving in on the Iraq war funding bill - as well they should have been, considering that the reason publicly given for the shameful capitulation was "the Republicans will make fun of us otherwise." Athenae at First Draft captured the sentiment perfectly when she wrote:
I thought November might have been the national therapy session you
fuckers seem to need, in order to feel confident in the size of your
governmental cocks again. I guess you need more than that.
Indeed they do - and in the interest of helping the cause, in the interest of helping the Democrats "feel confident in the size of their governmental cocks again," I'm announcing a new feature here at A Blog Named Sue that I call Democratic Enzyte. That's right, a supplement for Natural Poll Enhancement. All our hollerin' and cajolin' seems to have had little effect, so I've decided to take another track and try to make the Democratic leadership feel a little better about themselves.
Here's your first dose: 75% of the country thinks the country is fucked up. The reasons given are varied, but if you ask me it comes down to this: the GOP has spent the last six years telling us the nation is in grave peril, enemies lurk within and without, and not just Al Qaeda: Teh gay are coming for your kids, and Al Gore is coming for your Escalade. Yeah, they did a pretty good job of scaring the crap out of all of us, but when the time came to step up and govern - Iraq, Afghanistan, NOLA - they went and stepped on their natural male enhancements. No wonder people are pessimistic - the government told us we're screwed, and then proved themselves utterly incapable of doing anything about it.
That's your opponent in a nutshell, Democratic Party - they sound pretty dumb, don't they? Come on, put on your big boy and girl pants, and go get 'em. You can do it!
