Too busy, once again, with personal/business/rich fantasy life to blog "for real," but in the meantime, here are a few items that I'd like to share:

Um, Jackson? Some us knew a long time ago that the Iranian protestors weren't necessarily pro-America. See, we actually read their party platform.

Also, this ad for a local pawn shop, which features Uncle Sam with a wad of cash in one hand and a fist full of other people's bling in the other, is really kind of awesome:

Phila brings us this amazing collection of illustrations from old Japan, via the wonderful BibliOdyssey:

There's lots more at the BibliOdyssey link, and they're all wonderful. A number of commenters there said the illustrations reminded them of Gahan Wilson; the illustration above reminded me of Tove Jansson. For those of you unfamiliar with her work, she wrote and illustrated a series of children's books featuring the Moomin characters, who are largely unknown here in the States but are hugely popular in Europe and Japan. She also wrote and illustrated a comic strip aimed at adults featuring the same characters, which Drawn & Quarterly is collecting into beautiful hardcover editions:

I'm no luddite, but it's kind of a bummer that artists don't get as many chances to unleash that kind of awesome these days.
